I would love for the inside of our fridge to look like this, I’m working on it!

We’ve got the healthy content pretty well handled, except for a jar of chocolate fudge left over from when I was pregnant…
And equally important all our food storage containers are glass.
About 2 years ago we made the switch from plastic to glass and never looked back. Costco was selling a 10+ piece pack of Wellbeing Glasslock food containers and I twisted my now husband’s arm to buy the box. They work perfectly for leftovers, lunches and the occasional serving dish. Whole Foods also keeps this brand of glassware stocked all year round.
People have different reasons for preferring glass over plastic; long term cost, appearance, optimizing storage, reusability, etc. But the most important reason we switched was food safety.
It is well documented many plastics are toxic, especially when heated. If you’re still nuking your protein and nutrient rich quinoa, vegetable, and chicken casserole leftovers you are also consuming the toxins from that plastic.
Furthermore glass is non-porous and won’t absorb food particles and germs. (Think spaghetti sauce in plastic tupperware, I could never totally get the red out, yuck.) And when the leftovers have been eaten, it’s dishwasher safe, I wash the lids on the top rack, ensuring a clean surface for next time.
If you haven’t gone glass yet I highly recommend making the switch. We’re so careful about the food we put in to our bodies shouldn’t we be as vigilant about what our food is stored in?
Be Inspired,
Kelly
